Who is Margo?
I used to live on the streets with thousands of other stray dogs in Romania. I had a rough life first fending for myself and then was hit by a car. Luckily The Responsible Dog Rescue, a wonderful rescue org and also on our site, found me and got me the surgery and support I needed. I went from the image on the right...
...to this new life in the UK! Tiffany and Sergio are my humans who adopted me and introduced me to couches, cheese (my obsession), and new adventures.
They were also inspired by my adoption journey and started Friends of Margo to help me with a new mission.

Our Story
Tiffany and Sergio discovered the adoption process was complicated and long in the UK. They spoke to multiple rescue orgs, completed dozens of (very similar) applications, got their hopes up, went to Facebook groups, researched, and waited. Luckily they finally found Margo.
However, they were troubled after discovering how overwhelmed rescue orgs can get, operating mainly via volunteers, to find the right owners and how some owners ended up buying a pet because it was “easier” than adopting or rehoming their pet after because they weren’t the right fit.
Our Goals
- Improve discovery by showcasing rescue animals across various orgs in a consistent way and standardizing key information
- Help rescues get and stay out of the shelter by better preparing future owners
- Streamline the process for both rescue orgs and potential owners by minimizing admin work and providing better transparency on the adoption or fostering process
